Many Christian churches teach that it is wrong to pray to Mother Mary and saints because it is a form of idolatry. Anyone who prays to Mother Mary and saints never consider them as God or a replacement for God. Let me explain this the way God did.
We ask other people to pray for us. Specifically, we ask those whom we feel have a “special connection to God” to pray for us like priests, nuns, pastors, prayer groups, etc. It’s the same when we pray to Mother Mary and saints. We are asking them to pray for us, asking them to use that “special connection” to God to obtain graces for us.
So, if the argument to be used in saying that praying to Mother Mary and the saints are wrong because only Jesus is our only “mediator” with God, then neither should we ask anyone to pray for us and neither should anyone pray for anyone else.
As God said: What do you think those in heaven do? They just flit and fly? If the salvation of man is important to Me, then it is important to everyone in Heaven.
On understanding the teaching of “Jesus as our only mediator”:
We are all to serve as God’s priest, be it here or earth or in Heaven. What is a priest? A priest is a mediator between God and His people, or even more broadly, the world. As God said, our (man’s) purpose is to bring the world closer to Him. Jesus is called the high priest, the “mediators or all mediators”.
The teaching of “Christ as our only mediator” can cause confusion. So I asked God to explain.
God’s answer:
Meaning: Jesus is true God and true man. As, Jesus, God fulfilled the role of both. As true man, He showed us who we truly are and fulfilled the role as a mediator between God and His people, a role that the apostles continued to carry out after Jesus' death.
